Guys, I love writing and all, but I just don’t think it’s my passion anymore. Why bother writing when no one will like my work anyway?
And that’s why…I’m resigning from my novel. Bye, NaNo….
HAHAHA NOPE I’M TOTALLY KIDDING.
IT. IS. NOVEMBER. 29. NANOWRIMO. ENDS. TOMORROW. I. AM. ALMOST. DONE. I. WILL. NOW. STOP. SPEAKING. LIKE. THIS.
I’m 87% done! (Guys, how long it took me to find the % symbol is really sad.)
A girl stands on a white dress on an island, waiting for a boat to come. Years later, the girl boards a boat, sad and confused. The boat sets sail. It threatens to throw her over the side. Once, and once only, it succeeds. As she falls into the ocean, all hope is lost. She slowly emerges, her curly brown hair seeming to melt off her head along with the salty ocean water. She grabs at the sides of the boat. Her grasp slips off the edge of the boat, but she doesn’t fall into the ocean like she expects. Instead, she falls into the sky. The sky is gorgeous. The clouds so close, she can touch them and pinch them with her fingertips. Then the sky isn’t what it’s seemed like this whole time- the sky can no longer hold her. So she falls, deep into the ocean until she can feel corals with her feet. But feisty mermaids capture her and leave her to decay in the dark depths of the ice-cold, unforgiving water. She wants out so badly, but the mermaids are relentless. They like to pull innocent creatures into their habitat. Finally the selfish mermaids get what they want and have no choice but to let the girl go. She swims away, not wanting to bring any memories of the awful mermaids with her. Up she swims, far away and back into the sky. She’s shocked to see a mermaid swimming in the air. She didn’t know it was possible for them to be up here. To her utter shock, an angel from the sky cuts off the mermaid’s tail…leaving the mermaid unable to live. It goes back to the place where it belongs. She falls asleep…but wakes up on the same island she was stranded on before.
That particular paragraph is a metaphor for something happening in my character’s life. I personally think it’s really cool to write something as a metaphor, and then rewrite it as a literal thing. Which is what I did, only I’m not going to share the literal meaning of this paragraph. Not yet. 😉
Thoughts??? Please drop me a comment- I’d love to know!
UPDATE: I wrote a little bit of my novel in the middle of this post. Now I’m at 13,329 words and 88% done.
Glad that November’s almost over, (DECK THE HALLS! 🎄)
~ RUTVI ❤
I’ve been so caught up with NaNo that I didn’t make a Thanksgiving post! I’m sorry. But Happy (very late) Thanksgving for those of you who celebrate it!
My cousin and I colored this page in her ‘Secret Garden’ coloring book.
I love the gradient effects!
Here are some photos from Thursday’s Thanksgiving Dinner.
Soup, Pharaoh salad, mashed potatoes, seasoned potatoes, and bread. All the kids made peppermint bark and cookies for dessert!
We went on 2 hikes on this trip. They were both fun and exhausting, on one of them, we climbed uphill nearly the whole time!

GUYS. MY. NOVEL. IS. GOING. TO. BE. FINISHED. WHAT IS THIS HOW IS THIS HAPPENING ASDJFKL!!!!
I’ve been working on my novel all day, not counting going out for a tour, lunch, and dinner. My cousins & brother are watching a movie right now, so I’m chilling in my cousin’s room, writing.
I’m soooo close! I want to be at 11,000 by the time I stop writing. Oh, and I should probably warn you that it’s past 12 AM here so if I say stuff that doesn’t make sense, don’t judge.
ololololololoooo that is my goat
I can’t decide whether the blinking cursor is my friend or my enemy…
HALP I’M TOO IN LOVE WITH THIS CHARACTER LIKE SHE’S ACTUALLY MY FRIEND NOW
Has anyone ever changed their character’s name in the middle of a story, but then you find yourself typing their old name all the time???? Yeah, it happens every time.
The first screenshot was taken at 12:04 AM. SO, in 20something minutes, I did like 400 words! WHOA!
And in case you’re wondering, I’m in the middle of a major plot twist and I’m on Chapter 16. 😉
‘kay, I’m going to sleep. I have to get on a flight back home tomorrow. :O
Yeah, um. I couldn’t think of a title.
Photography post! Now, most of the time for photography posts, I go outside, planning to take pictures of whatever’s out there. But sometimes, photos you don’t plan are the best of all.
This was in my uncle’s factory.
There was a cow in here, you just can’t see it.
Simba!!! ❤ He’s so adorable. I’m not going to take credit for this hilarious picture, though. My brother took it! And then he edited it and added the ‘thug life’ sunglasses. XD
(RIP Simba…you’re in a better place ❤ )
At a concert. Love how this turned out!
Ice cream truck.
Cotton-candy pink sky. ❤
I’ve been obsessed with sending this to my friends:
It’s a holy cow. 😂😂😂
K, get commenting. fav pic? LMK!
IDK about this title. Don’t ask…
K, so this is gonna be a real short post just to tell you what’s up.
I don’t think I can finish my novel. I’ve lowered my word count goal to 15,000 words instead of 20,000, but I still don’t think I can do it, not unless I dedicate an entire two days to writing 5,000 words this week, and then write just about 200 words a day for the rest of the time. I mean it’s already November 20th-ten more days isn’t enough. Of course, I can still work on it AFTER November’s over, which I’ll probably do anyways. But I won’t ‘win’ NaNoWriMo. I’m okay with that, I guess. But, I mean, I have had a lot to do. It’s Spelling Bee season, and I just got out of school for Thanksgiving Break, and I have gymnastics. Aaand I’m visiting family this week. In a different state. (Which I am SUPER excited for, btw!) Seriously, I can’t wait. I just don’t know how NaNo will work out.
‘kay, rant over! I’ve got to go. Adios! ♥^^random picture of my feet for no apparent reason.
As I sit here banging my head against the wall (no, seriously) and waiting for an idea, I thought, “Hey, this’d be a good idea for a post!”
So here are the weirdest things I’ve had to look up for my novel.
-Place Name Generator
-Pretty Music (for a background playlist)
-Pretty & unusual girl’s names
-meaning of serenity
Here’s another excerpt for you to read.
The sun setting over the cerulean lake looked so picture-perfect. The water calmly rippled and my feet grew cold as the waves lapped over them. I picked up my white tennis shoes, lost in thought and torn between the two worlds. Did I want to go back home, where my soul belonged, or stay here, where I belonged? The sand underneath my feet rubbed off on the grass, leaving behind the serenity of Ever Lake.
I’ve noticed that my writing is so different than what it used to be. I talked about this a little bit in my last post, but I noticed that I write much more descriptively now than I did last year, as a sixth grader. Part of it is because I’ve studied so many words, but also reading blogs and your guys’s styles of writing has helped me better mine. So, thank you! It’s not hard to write 500-or any number, actually-words anymore. I’m more experienced than I used to be. I can understand my characters better and actually see into my writing, which makes me really happy.
All right. Loren, Sam, Jaclynn, Anika, if you’re reading this, what are you doing?! Stop procrastinating!! XD
Just kidding. I’m such a hypocrite.
